...and absolutely love it!
The list of things I admire about the spirited five year old that I spend lots of time with is extensive. She is, in fact, a force to be reckoned with.
I have always loved how she dresses because her style is fun, quirky, and just plain adorable. While I have not yet gotten the nerve to wear a tutu I am trying to not take my clothing so seriously. This is supposed to be fun and free.
Today as I prepared to dress I thought of something Sophia told me once. "Monna, I pick a shirt and a bottom that I love and I put them on. Then, I wear my favorite shoes."
One can not make it much simpler than that! I wore my ruffled Zelda, white printed plinkas, and my Barbie tennis shoes. And I loved it!!!
Have fun with your clothes today!

Honor Thyself~
Finally making the decision to wear these clothes and to honor myself took a lot of work. I had lagen-lust for many years before I threw caution and fear to the wind and just did it.
It is not without challenges and the fears do creep in from time to time. Just last week I decided it was time to wear my Jaqueline Crop top. I loved everything about it until I put it on.
I was so crushed. The ruffle that had come from a curtain seemed too much once I put it on. It felt clown-ish.
In that moment I had to make a decision. I had put thought, time, and resources into that top and I had loved it right up until that very moment.
I am happy to say that I chose to wear it any way. It is comfy and not one time while I wore it did I consider that perhaps I should not have worn it. In fact, I felt quite empowered. Whole. Real.
I am sharing this because I want to encourage YOU, my dear sister. Wear. It. Any. Way.
Please share your struggles and victories in the comments. I find we are our own best support system!

Three Sheets To The Wind~
...or What I Wore For Cinco de Mayo.
The more I am wearing my handmade-from-sheets-wardrobe the happier and braver I am becoming. This is so much fun!
My daughter invited me to dinner and a margarita and I really really wanted to wear my white bloomers with the teeny pink roses and some ruffles. My only ruffles also are pink and covered in flowers. What's a girl to do?
I put my solid pink no ruffle Zelda between them and rocked it. I ran into a dear friend from my yarn group who made it a point to tell me how much she loved my ruffles and that made my day.
Note to self: Make more ruffles! And...get a haircut.
Note to you: Do something fun today!

Me Made May...
...or...do something everyday that scares you.
Lately I have been frazzled, overwhelmed, and frustrated. That is not somewhere I enjoy being.
After much soul-searching and talking to my Trusted Two I have realized, once again, that I am not the only person that gets stuck in that funky rut.
Do you ever feel like this? Any of this sound like you?
The creative mind is a glorious thing. It is also trying at times. I feel a compulsion to make things. A need. I see potential every where. I buy more than I will ever use.
Once in a while, I get into the zone and things just flow. Of course those are my favorite times. Sometimes I feel I am trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.
I find I would be quite happy to be the shopper, designer, and even the model as long as Alana is my photographer. I would love to have someone else bring my visions to life and to fit them to my shape.
And...some days I write and things flow wonderfully together and sometimes, well, sometimes it is just choppy.
The decision to sew my own wardrobe has been a long time coming. It is exhilarating, frustrating, glorious, and fun. Wearing it is all of those things and more. Scary even.
During the month of May Zoe Edwards of So, Zo...what do you know? hosts a social media event called Me Made May where participants write and pledge their own challenge that will ultimately grow their relationship with their homemade wardrobe. You can read about it here or by clicking the info on the right of this page.
I am in! This will be good for me. It is scary but I am always down to figure out what makes me tick.
Yesterday I went to lunch with my daughter, Alana, who is so gloriously supportive of me wearing my truth. This is a shirt I cut off, my favorite Zelda, a linen shift dress with an amazing scallop edge, and my orange Plinkas. Fun!
What are you doing that is fun or scarey today?

The Three Brothers~
...or my second TG Love.
Zelda comes with a darling pair of pants named Zelda Bloomers. They are the same as the Plinka Pant and appear to be free using this link .
Regardless of what you call them they are absolutely delightful to wear.
I made my first pair too small so I put in a side panel and left the edges raw in the hopes of some fraying. I love the tiny flowers in the fabric!
The orange ones are from a sheet and so far I have paired them with the green Zelda. They are a match in cute/comfort heaven.
I came across a luscious blue linen tablecloth with a curved lettuce edge that begged to become the bottom of a pair of pants. Plinka to the rescue. I have plans for a Bloom or other top made from equally luscious baby pink tablecloth to pair with these.
Currently there is a pair of bright Plinka bloomers on my sewing table. The second twin sheet in the set was miserable without the other so a remedy was necessary. Some of the elasticized part of the sheet will be made into the bottom ruffle on these bloomers. Once done there will be four brothers. Perhaps I shall name them after mine: Scott, Alan, Donnie, and Dan. <3

Three Sisters
...or My First TG Love.
When I was trying to decide what to make first STTGLABS had their first Sew Along. Because many of us were new to TG patterns a simple pattern was called for. Zelda it was!
Zelda is considered a slip but can be worn as a tunic, slip, or dress. She is also a free patttern to TG Sewing Club Members.
I have now made three of her and learned something from each one. All are made from sheets and each is a joy to wear!

The pink with ruffles and flowers was my first. The shoulders needed to cut at a slant next time so they will lay better. This one was also a bit big on me.
The green one was made without ruffle because there was not enough fabric for it. I did, however, take advantage of the fact that she could be made longer. I learned that I could really mess up continuous bias binding and that I did not slant the shoulders enough.
The bright pink one is perfect in size and the shoulders. This time I decided to do the bottom with pieced straight pieces of fabric for added length and left the seams out raw on the bottom. I self-drafted facing for the neck and sleeves. I learned that sometimes just letting go and doing it is loads of fun.
This is todays' Zelda slipped between two dresses for a pop of color. (Puns always intended.)
So what's on your sewing table?
