Sharing The Wealth~

or...my FOMO is your gain.

I live in a thrift store rich area and have access to an abundance of glorious, secondhand sheets for great prices.  On top of that, many of the stores have sales and specials to further reduce their already great prices.  Combine that with my severe case of FOMO, and I have more sheets than I will ever use.

In my interactions with fellow lagenlook sewists and upcylers from other parts of the country, I have heard their lament over the lack of affordable used sheets in their area.

This is where the idea for "Who Gives A Sheet" was born.

Within the next few days, I am going to implement a program that will allow you to peek at my glorious stash of sheets and also offer you the opportunity to purchase your must-haves.

This program will run for a trial basis for one month.  For now, this is an exclusive offer to my readers.  Maybe this will evolve into something bigger but, for now, I am taking small steps.

How will this work?

1. I will post pics of sheets and the first to comment under that picture, gets first dibs on that sheet. Orders will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

2. You message me with the sheet number and your order will be packaged into the smallest possible Priority Shipping box.

3. I will respond with the amount due and ask for your full name and complete mailing address.

4. Payment accepted via PayPal or Facebook messenger.

5. Your sheets will ship the next business day.

The cost of each sheet is $3.00, plus the cost of Priority Shipping.  At this time, I can only offer shipping to interested parties in the United States.

Let's give this a whirl and see how it goes, shall we?

Yours,

Road Running~

...or Fun In The Sun With Sophia~

Had an absolutely glorious day running the roads with my partner in crime, Sophia. Started at an event held by an artist friend then on to two antique stores, three thrift stores, one yard sale, Wal-Mart, and finally Dairy Queen for dinner.
I am wearing Cara top and bottom. Both were sheets in a previous life. This top is too big so it is pinned until I put in a few pleats to bring it in but you can bet his outfit will reappear in many fabric combos as I absolutely love it.

My daughter walked into the house and said, "You look cute as shit!" I'll take it.

I got the chance to talk about making clothes from sheets with two women at one store and one at another. banner day all around!

What is on your cutting/sewing table? Have a glorious week all!

Yours,

Upcycle Sew Along~

...or Two Birds One Stone.

STTGLABS and WNWN are collaberating in an Upcyle Sewing Challenge of sorts that begins today and that prompted me to make a pair of bloomers that I have been contemplating for some time.

I have always had a thing for bedding textiles and love thrifted sheets and pillowcases. I know, you are so surprised. ;)

In light of the sew-a-long collaboration, today, my friends, I bring you the recipe for creating your very own pair of Pillow Case Bloomers, or as I like to call them, 'PCBs'.

I started with a pair of  luscious 100% cotton pillow cases that were manufactured in India. I turned them inside out and using a side seam as the 'fold' I cut the crotch using a favorite pair of bloomers as my guide.

I loved the 'top' of the pillowcases and wanted that to be the hem in my bloomers. Once the bloomers were sewn I added a casing near the hem and inserted 1/4" elastic that was half as long as the width of the bottom of the leg. I did this in two pieces per leg due to there being side seams on both sides of these cases.

The Jaqueline that is destined to pair with these has not been finished so I have worn them with my Cara and Zelda so far.

I am adding these PCB's to the Perpetual Sew Along here at Who Gives A Sheet. If you make some of your own I would love to feature them in a post.

Do tell me what you have been sewing lately! Do you also upcycle?

Honor Thyself~

Finally making the decision to wear these clothes and to honor myself took a lot of work. I had lagen-lust for many years before I threw caution and fear to the wind and just did it.
It is not without challenges and the fears do creep in from time to time. Just last week I decided it was time to wear my Jaqueline Crop top. I loved everything about it until I put it on.
I was so crushed. The ruffle that had come from a curtain seemed too much once I put it on. It felt clown-ish.

In that moment I had to make a decision. I had put thought, time, and resources into that top and I had loved it right up until that very moment.
I am happy to say that I chose to wear it any way. It is comfy and not one time while I wore it did I consider that perhaps I should not have worn it. In fact, I felt quite empowered. Whole. Real.
I am sharing this because I want to encourage YOU, my dear sister. Wear. It. Any. Way.

Please share your struggles and victories in the comments. I find we are our own best support system!

Yours,
